New York City-based Fashion label 3.1 Phillip Lim has announced the appointment of Michelle Rhee As Head Of Design.
The announcement signals a new chapter as the brand celebrates its 21st year, following the departure of co-founder and creative director Phillip Lim in November 2024.
'It is with great joy that I welcome and introduce our new Head of Design, Michelle Rhee. From day one, our brand has been built together with you - through our shared values, creativity with purpose, and a belief that true luxury honors people, craft, and the planet. As we step into this new chapter, I am grateful for the energy, perspective, and artistry that Michelle will bring to our world. Together, we will continue to honor the spirit and design codes of 3.1 Phillip Lim while exploring new ways to inspire and be inspired,' 3.1 Phillip Lim Co-Founder & CEO Wen Zhou said in a press release.
'3.1 Phillip Lim has always stood for modern elegance that feels effortless, yet deeply meaningful - a balance of strength, softness and cultural resonance. I've long admired the brand's ability to shape the way people express themselves through clothing, while staying true to its roots in community and creativity. I feel honored to carry forward that heritage and excited to imagine what the next chapter of 3.1 can look like - one that continues to celebrate resilience, identity and the beauty of everyday dressing elevated,' Rhee stated on her new role.
A native of Los Angeles, Rhee has invaluable experience in high-end fashion having worked at esteemed fashion houses such as Marc Jacobs, Area and Derek Lam 10 Crosby. She also launched her eponymous label, which she will continue alongside her new role. Her debut collection for 3.1 Phillip Lim will reportedly be Spring 2026 as a lookbook.
